I was searching for a snack item and got this in an old vanitha magazine. It sounded different and so thought of trying it. Came out well. Have any of you tried this before??
Ingredients
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Rava/Semolina - 1 cup
- Curd - 1/2 cup
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Ginger paste - 1 tsp
- Onion chopped - 1/4 cup
- Beans chopped - 1/4 cup
- Carrot chopped - 1/4 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Baking Soda - 1/2 tsp
Method
- Preheat your oven to 150 degrees
- Mix together ingredients 2 to 11 to get a semi-thick batter(If the batter is too thick add little more water)
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once it spluters add cumin seeds. Switch off when you get the smell of cumin.
- Add this to the above batter. Blend well.
- Mix the baking soda to the batter.
- Pour in cupcake tray and bake for 10 minutes (adjust your oven accordingly)
I didn't add beans. It is a carrot semolina cake. May be you all can try this with the vegetables of your choice. It tastes even better with coconut chutney.
