Moong dal or cherupayar is a favourite thing at my in-laws place. So my husband gets a homesick wave everytime he sees this gram. This stir fry is very simple to make and has only few ingredients and today I read 1 cup of raw moong dal gives 3 cups of cooked dal :)
Ingredients

- Green Moong Dal - 1 cup
- Oil - 2-3 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Garlic - 3 pods
- Onion - 3 medium chopped
- Dry red chillies - 6 crushed (adjust according to your tolerance)
- Salt to taste
- Pressure cook moong dal and garlic together until cooked. (Avoid over cooking of gram)
- Heat oil in pan
- Add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
- Add the chopped onions and saute until transparent.
- Add crushed red chillies and stir.
- Now add the cooled cooked moong dal and salt to taste.
- Stir fry on low flame for 5-7 minutes.
- Serve hot.
